24 augustus Sonja's Car AccidentAs some of our friends already know, Sonja and I were in a minor car accident a couple weekends ago. It really wasn't all that bad. Everybody in all the cars was ok, so that was good. Sonja's car has damage to the front, rear, and passenger side. The damage doesn't look very bad, but apparently it is running up a pretty expensive repair bill. Thankfully the girl at fault has insurance, so her insurance company is paying for everything. Although, I'm not so sure I'm happy with how the insurance company is handling all of that. But, more on that in another post. Some pictures from the accident can be found on my Flickr site. Below is a picture of the intersection where the accident took place. 03 januari A New EraIn July I sold my beloved 2003 Mustang Cobra convertible. Today, I finally got a new car. Between now and then I've been driving a P.O.S. 1000 - also known as a 1991 Ford Probe. The Probe was my winter beater that turned into primary transportation after selling the Cobra. Today, the Probe is gone, and replaced by a new 2007 Acura TL Type-S. I've only had the new TL for a few hours, and it is great. Of course, just about anything would seem great after driving that Probe around for months. This car has tons of cool gadgets. I can't wait to figure them all out. 11 juli Self-Parking BMWBMW already make some very cool cars. One of the things BMW cars are known for, beside great performance and luxury, is having new high-tech gadgets. Well, I think they're about to do it again. How cool would it be to have a car that could park itself in your garage?
Ok, so it really isn't hard to park a car in a garage. But, it still would be cool.

05 juli The End of an EraToday marks the end of an era for me. For the past 6 years I've owned a Ford Mustang, of one type or another. I've owned a Mustang GT coupe, Mustang GT convertible, and most recently a Mustang Cobra convertable. I've always been the guy with a Mustang. The guy with a cool car. Guys and girls alike always seemed to look at me when I drove past. Ok, so they were probably looking at the car and not the driver.
Today I sold by baby. I sold my 2003 Mustang Cobra. Those who know me know how much I cherished that car. It was my prized possesion. It was the thing that I loved most. Somehow that car made me feel better, well, about being me.
Now, I don't have a cool car. I have a P.O.S. A transportation special. A beater.
Pour some out for the guy that once had THE CAR.
In memory of the Cobra, I am posting some pictures of the car as it looked right before I sold it.
15 februari Flying CarsSome MIT students are working on making the flying car idea a reality. Sounds good to me! I'll take a red one, oh, and make it a convertible please.
14 november Tuffy Sucks!!Tuffy Auto Service Center SUCKS!!! Perhaps the suck-factor is lower at other locations, but the Cemetery Rd. location has a huge suck-factor. I have a 1991 Ford Probe with 117,000 miles on it. I used it as my winter beater car, and it looks every bit of a winter beater. This car is worth maybe $800.
I took my Probe to Tuffy because I needed some exhaust work and I thought there might be a small plroblem with my brakes. Tuffy insisted I needed new exhaust from the catalytic converter back, new front and rear rotors and pads. I told the Tuffy rep that I just had new front and rear pads, and new front rotors, put on last fall. This guy insisted that I still needed the work and that my driving habits could be to blame. I'm no auto mechanic, but brake pads do not wear out after 2,000 miles. I don't care how hard you drive the car.
So after laughing at the Tuffy rep, I took my car to a great little muffler and brake shop in Marysville. This shop has a reputation for doing great work at a fair price. The shop in Marysville said that I needed a new exhaust, and that would cost about $150. Tuffy wanted $600 for this work. The shop in Marysville said that I needed new rear rotors, and that even though my pads and front rotors were rusted, they could be easily sanded down and work just fine. The rear rotor cost - $180. Tuffy's cost for new brakes - $650. The total price difference was nearly $1,000. That is crazy!!
Lesson learned - Tuffy sucks! Stick with the small town service shops. Better customer service, better work, and better prices. 30 augustus Talking about Z4 hit againIf Andrew didn't have bad luck with morons and his car, he would have no luck at all. Andrew, I think your next vechicle should be some massive beast of a vehicle. I'm thinking an H1 on steroids. That way you would be above almost everybody else, and could just plow over the jerks that drive the roads in south Florida. Quote Z4 hit again |
